My name is Marian Barnard, I have been involved in running several small businesses over the past 12 years. I have experience in the retail sector, construction industry and accountancy services. I have a masters in business and sit on the board of Portarlington Credit Union.
No matter what the business we all need to keep a handle on the paperwork both from a practical point of view so that we know what is going on with the business and also from a compliance point of view e.g. revenue, employee rights and health and safety. There is so much involved that it can certainly be a daunting thought especially for small businesses. Large businesses can afford to hire qualified staff and deal with their accountants on day to day issues but small and start up businesses do not have such funds at their disposal. I know this from my experience running small business. I have reached the level of experience and expertise required to offer services, training and advice to other small enterprises at an affordable rate.
